Drew Panckeri
Drew Panckeri is a picture book maker and cartoonist living in the States, just over the river from New York City. Largely self-taught, he worked as a designer for many years, while continuing to work as a cartoonist for The New Yorker magazine, among other publications. As a kid, he was a steadfast daydreamer – more concerned with his interior life than what was going on around him. Now he uses this very special skill to dream up stories, to doodle delightful characters, and to put them through life’s joys and disappointments, both large and small. He remembers vividly the charm of the George and Martha stories as a child, and since has become endeared to the world of Lottie and Herbie by Petra Mathers, and the big emotions inside of William Steig’s stories. When not drawing or writing, Drew can be found puttering around in the garden, cursing at the groundhog, knocking about in the kitchen, and generally leading a quiet life with good books.
He is currently working on a self-initiated early graphic novel featuring a fun-loving duck, an anxious cat, and a family of hungry crocodiles!
